From central Cologne, take Autobahn A559/A59 southbound and turn off at Kennedystrasse.

Public transport:

Rail: S-Bahn and Intercity-Express (ICE) trains (tel: 11861; www.bahn.de) run from the airport railway station, which is situated between Terminals 1 and 2.

S-Bahn trains operate to Cologne Hauptbahnhof (Central Station) and other destinations in the city (journey time: around 15 minutes). ICE trains link to Düsseldorf, Duisburg, Essen, Bochum, Dortmund, Hanover and Berlin, among other destinations.

Bus: The Airport Express Bus SB60 runs between Bonn Central Station and the airport (journey time: 30 minutes; fare around: €7.20). Bus 161 takes passengers to the U-Bahn station at Porz Markt on the outskirts of Cologne.

Taxi: Taxis to the centres of Cologne or Bonn are available outside Terminals 1 and 2 (journey time: 15 minutes; fares around: from €30 to Cologne or from €40 to Bonn).
