Hobart International Airport (HBA) is a useful pickup and drop off point for campervan and motorhome hire vehicles.


Hobart International Airport is an airport located in Cambridge, 17 km northeast of Hobart. It is the major passenger airport in Tasmania. The Federal government owned airport is operated by the Tasmanian Gateway Consortium under a 99-year lease.

Tasmania in general is a hugely popular tourist destination and much used by hirers of campervans and motorhomes as it is ideal for travel and holidays of this sort. Probably because if it's geographic placement it is widely used as a venue for campervan and motorhome hire vehicles pickup and drop off point.

Hobart International Airport was opened in 1956 and privatised in 1988.[9] Occupying approximately 565 ha (1,400 acres) of land,[5] the airport is situated on a narrow peninsula. Take-offs and landings are inevitably directed over bodies of water regardless of approach or departure direction. The region immediately surrounding the airport remains largely unpopulated, which enables the airport to operate curfew-free services, a curfew service being an order specifying a time during which certain regulations apply
